IP2000V Implantable Infusion Pump

The Fourth Generation Implantable Infusion Pump is now available in the UK.

From the makers of the original implantable infusion pump, Tricumed brings to market the IP 2000V® – the innovative and obvious choice for treating chronic pain and spasticity in adults and children.

Tricumed offers the Porthales® 4000, a small port used in dose identification prior to the implantation of the IP 2000V® or any other implantable intrathecal pump.

Intrathecal Drug Delivery

Implantable intrathecal drug delivery systems are used to deliver morphine or baclofen to alleviate chronic intractable pain and spasticity, respectively. The pump is usually implanted subcutaneously within the fatty layer of the abdomen while the catheter, which is attached to the pump, is implanted in the intrathecal space. Intrathecal drug delivery works more efficiently compared to the oral administration of medication as it delivers medication directly into the cerebrospinal fluid. Since the medicine does not travel throughout the body, the intrathecal dose is generally 1/300 the amount of morphine or baclofen needed when taken orally.
