EPI-C
The first disposable spinal endoscope.
The EPI-C was designed with safety and efficiency in mind. It is the first of its kind, with a fully disposable catheter and a fibre optic that does not require sterilisation, this is the economic choice for performing epiduroscopy or spinal endoscopy.
- Eliminates cross-contamination issues
- 10,000 pixel for an excellent picture quality
- Disposable catheters available in 30cm and 42 cm lengths
- Strong steerable tip with a diamond lens
- Incorporated protection tube for the fibre optic
- Dedicated working channel for additional procedural instruments
Spinal Endoscopy
Spinal Endoscopy or Epiduroscopy is a proceudre used to diagnose and treat chronic low back pain and radiculopathy. Using the EPI-C’s flexible fibre optic endoscope and disposable video guided catheter allows the consultant to visually assess the anatomical structures, tissues, nerves and pathology within the epidural space.
The body naturally attempts to heal itself when injured or post-operatively. In some instances, this results in the formation of tissues that encase the nerve roots called epidural adhesions. These adhesions cause irritation and inflammation of the nerves which can lead to severe and chronic pain.
Since adhesions are difficult to visualize on MRI or CT scans, they can remain undetected. Spinal endoscopy allows the consultant to diagnose epidural pathology and simultaneously treat the painful symptoms via localized anaesthetic injection and / or adhesiolysis. Spinal endoscopy is considered a minimally invasive procedure that is performed in an operating theatre with mild sedation on an outpatient basis.
